There was a woman who collapsed into a pile of giggles.

Yes, it's me again. These kids of mine are getting funnier. We were out to dinner the other night and the waiter comes to take our order. Little M says to him, "Macaroni & Cheese please," to which he answers her, "Are you sure?" Bear in mind, Little M is not even three and she whips out, "You BETCHA!" with a little tiny thumbs up. I couldn't help it. I laughed out loud and NOT in a text message LOL way. Like, loud laughter that the whole restaurant could hear.

As if that weren't enough, Bigger M came home from a sleepover and tells me in great detail how she and friend made projects and went door to door to sell them. Here's the kicker; they made TEN BUCKS. I gave them both four canvases.... wonder what they'll so with that?
Untill next time,

There was a beautiful girl with eyes as blue as the summer sky.

For as long as I can remember, I have told stories. My daughters love them, as they should. Who else's stories should be more revered than their mother's? But there is one little fairytale that captivates them everytime.

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful girl who was loved by all who knew her. She had eyes as blue as a summer sky and a smile that could light up a room. This little girl... and the story would wax poetic things that girls dream of doing, like riding horses on the beach or walking a tightrope above the Grand Canyon.

Why do stories mesmerize us so? Is is that we are delivered to a different place while listening to a good story? I think so. And that is why I am compelled to write.

There was a girl that got tired of waiting.

That girl was me. I have been writing as long as I can remember and dreaming of the day that I would be published. I'm 37 and it occured to me, that I had better get started if that dream is going to become a reality!

So I wrote.
And wrote some more.
And then I avoided writing for awhile - who knows why?

Maybe I got distracted by something shiny or the kids needed a drink of water. But then I started writing again and then I did it. I submitted a picture book for publication right before Christmas. WHEW. I was on air for a week with the high of having done leap of faith in myself.
When the first rejection came, here's me, shouting for the virtual rooftops (aka Facebook), "I got my FIRST rejection!" It was exciting, actually.

Admittedly, the second and third rejections were not so much.
That's ok though, because it's out there and being read. (I hope.)
But it's been about four weeks since I've heard anyting from the other six agents I sent it to and I am doing the classic thing of thinking my email doesn't work. *laughing*

We'll see what we see. In the meantime, I am distracting myself with other kinds of projects. Oh! I also have fallen in love with the work of Masha D'Yans. I think she would be perfect for Lulu's Tutus; the 408 word picture book I am waiting to hear back about. You can salivate over her work at: www.masha.com

Until next time,
